Between 6-12 February, LooseHeadz is proud to launch Inside Out Week, a simple but powerful campaign designed to shine a light on children’s mental health and encourage open conversations about what’s going on inside.
The idea is easy: turn your top inside out, snap a photo, and share it online.
Whether it’s a club shirt, a LooseHeadz tee, school uniform, or training kit, what you’re wearing doesn’t matter. What does matter is the message- that it’s okay to talk, and it’s okay to ask for help.
Why Inside Out Week Matters
We know that mental health challenges among young people are increasing. Research shows that 1 in 6 children aged 5-16 are likely to experience a mental health problem, and nearly 40% of young people have seen their mental health decline since 2017. Even more importantly, around 50% of mental health issues begin by the age of 14.
These numbers are influenced by many factors- from the lasting effects of the pandemic to academic pressure, social media, and life both on and off the pitch. That’s why starting conversations early is so important.
Making a Lasting Impact
LooseHeadz has a training module designed for young people. The module has been designed to give young players the tools, language, and confidence to better understand their mental wellbeing, encouraging healthy conversations and positive habits both on and off the pitch.
Combining education with simple, visible actions like Inside Out Week, we’re working to create an environment where mental health is spoken about openly and supported consistently- not just for one week, but all year round.
Getting the Whole Game Involved
Inside Out Week isn’t just for kids. We want players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and clubs at every level of the game to get involved and show their support.
By posting an inside-out photo, adults can help normalise conversations around mental wellbeing and show young players that they’re not alone.
How to Take Part
Getting involved couldn’t be simpler:
Step 1: Turn your top inside out
Step 2: Take a photo
Step 3: Share it on social media
Step 4: Tag @LooseHeadz and use #InsideOutWeek
We’ll be resharing as many posts as possible throughout the week- and we’re hoping a few familiar faces from the rugby community will be joining in too!
