24/7’s: A World Record Rugby Challenge
Yes, you read that right – 24 hours of 7s rugby. This July, LooseHeadz and Sandbach RUFC are teaming up to attempt a new world record, bringing together players, officials, and supporters for an unforgettable endurance event, all in support of mental health in rugby.
The Challenge
At 12pm on Friday 24th July, two simultaneous matches – one men’s and one women’s – will kick off and run continuously for over 24 hours.
The goal? Break the current Guinness World Record of 24 hours 30 minutes, set in 2017.
Each game will feature squads of up to 12 players using rolling substitutions, following official 7s laws to ensure a competitive match throughout – even as fatigue sets in.
Get Involved
Whether you’re a player, manager, official, or volunteer, there’s a role for you.
Sign up and be part of something special.
More Than Just Rugby
This is a true endurance event. Players will remain pitchside for the duration, supported by physios, first aiders, and volunteers, with facilities set up to keep everything running around the clock.
A Community Effort
The challenge will bring together:
– 24 men’s and 24 women’s players
– Coaches and team managers
– Match officials
– Medical teams and volunteers
All participants will be raising funds for LooseHeadz, supporting vital mental health initiatives across the rugby community.
A Festival Atmosphere
While the games play on, Sandbach RUFC will transform into a 24-hour rugby festival, featuring:
– Live music and DJs
– Food vendors
– Entertainment throughout
– Guest appearances from rugby names
There will also be a sponsor and business brunch, offering a chance to network and support the cause.
The Bigger Picture
When the final whistle blows, it won’t just mark the end of a match – but the celebration of an incredible collective effort.
Because 24/7’s is about more than breaking records.
It’s about community, resilience, and tackling the stigma around mental health in rugby.
