How LooseHeadz Is Looking To #TackleTheStigma

We founded LooseHeadz in 2017 with the simple goal of helping to #TackleTheStigma that surrounds mental health in rugby.

Whilst we have made some great progress in our campaign thanks to your incredible support, we still have a long way to go. To date we have raised a great amount of awareness around mental wellbeing, in addition to plenty of funds through the sales of our rugby clothing and from fundraisers.

Now we want to focus on turning this awareness into action, and that is why we have set ourselves the simple, yet ambitious goal of placing a mental health lead in each of the rugby clubs initially in the UK, but soon hopefully across the world.

We know this won’t be an easy task, but with your continued help and support we know that we can really make a difference out there. By having a ‘LooseHead’ in each club, we can then begin to deliver a number of our initiatives.

These initiatives vary significantly from the Wellbeing Through Sport programme which aims to help teach children of primary school ages the foundations of mental wellbeing, through to our social rugby project which focuses on bringing older players back to their clubs with a heavy focus on the social aspect of rugby.

Alongside this, we will be continuing to push and promote our key messaging online during the pandemic to ensure we are able to reach as many of you as possible, and hopefully do our bit to improve your mental health during what has been an incredibly tough time for all.

We will also be continuing the LooseHeadz podcast which has featured a number of guests from Shaun Edwards to Lima Sopoaga who have used the platform as an opportunity to discuss their own personal experiences of mental health.

Our commitment is to provide total visibility over the work we continue to do thanks to your support, so we will be providing regular updates across social media and via email so make sure you are subscribed to our mailing list.
