Our Top 10 Of 2022

We've taken a look back at some of the most memorable moments from 2022, and tried to choose just 10 of our best ones.

10. Full Time Switch

Back in June, co-founders Rob and Dave took the big leap into working full time with LooseHeadz. Throughout the past 6 months, we've been able to commit our undivided attention to the growth of LooseHeadz and supporting you - our community!

If you're interested in getting involved with LooseHeadz, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!

9. Interviews with Rugby's Biggest Stars

We've been lucky enough to have some of the biggest names in rugby get behind LooseHeadz. During the last few months of 2022, we captured a number of interviews with the likes of Craig Doyle, Rocky Clark, George Kruis, Topsy Ojo, Maggie Alphonsi, Nolli Waterman. And we're excited to capture more in the New Year.

We're so grateful for these amazing people opening up and sharing their story. We know it will support and inspire the rugby community.

8. Mental Health Training

At the start of 2022, we launched our first ever mental health training module in collaboration with the Mental Health Foundation. An introduction into mental health, how to spot signs in your teammates, how to start those difficult conversations, and how to create kinder cultures.

We have plans for a second version aimed at 10-18 year olds, and we're hopeful it will be ready by February/March.

7. Game 4 Grief

Our first ever charity match, and what a successful evening. Cold, but successful. LooseHeadz were marginally victorious in a 55 - 48 match against Lockerstash...a lot of attacking rugby...and not so much defending. We had a number of ex pro's run out for Team LooseHeadz including Matt Banahan, Jordan Crane, Dave Ward, Ben John, and James Hall.

But more importantly, it was an all-round brilliant occasion that raised awareness and remembered the lives of those people we've lost in the rugby community. We can't wait for the next one!

6. Fundraisers

A HUGE thank you to every single person who has fundraised for LooseHeadz over the past 12 months. We couldn;t do what we do without you.

From mullet chops and mountain hikes to 24 hour bootcamps and biking challenges. We've seen a wide range of fundraising activities to raise vital funds and awareness for the LooseHeadz Foundation.

We want to encourage our community to get involved and fundraise during 2023. Get in touch and we can work together to #TackleTheStigma.

5. Baa Baa's Appearance

Well, we know it makes sense. Both LooseHeadz and the Baa Baa's are black and white...

But thanks to LooseHeadz ambassador, Tom Cruse, we made a cameo appearance in the Barbarians match back in November.

Crusey wore one Stockport Rugby Club sock and paired it with a LooseHeadz rainbow sock. We love to see it!

4. Prem Launch Day

We've worked with Premiership Rugby for over 3 years now but in September we were invited to the media launch day at Twickenham...and it was one of the best days yet.

We captured content with players and coaches from all of the Premiership Rugby clubs. It was a lot of fun and we're thankful to Premiership Rugby for their support in our mission.

3. MLR Partnership

Back in May, we were contacted by Major League Rugby to get involved in their Mental Fitness month of May. We thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it

We have a worldwide mission to place a mental health lead at every rugby club in the world, so to become the MLR's official mental fitness partner for the new season next year means so much to us. We are excited to build on this partnership and activate in The States in 2023.

2. Text Line Launch

This was an important milestone in the growth of LooseHeadz and our journey. Whilst our four key pillars are Prevent, Promote, Educate, Signpost, we knew we needed to be able to direct those in need to a dedicated text line service.

Everyone now has access to the 24/7 service run by volunteers at Shout. To access the service, users simply need to text the word 'Rugby' to 85258 and will receive a reply within minutes.

The confidential service is completely free of charge and is anonymous for all users.

1. Visiting Chester and Sidmouth

Our mission is to place a mental health lead at every rugby club in the world. We spent 2022 visiting those clubs who have engaged with our mission and have joined the LooseHeadz family.

We were quite emotional to see the LooseHeadz message being driven by the mental health leads at Chester and Sidmouth.

We're completely blown away by the support and can't wait to establish a relationship with more clubs in the not-too-distant future.

Thanks for your support, and here's to doing more to #TackleTheStigma in 2023!!
