Can You Help Mark On His Epic 1,000 Mile Run?

On Monday 8th May, New Zealander Mark Philpott set off on his epic 1,000 mile run, starting at Land’s End, & finishing up at John O’Groats. The run will cover 1,000 miles over 70 days, & see Mark running through 3 countries as he looks to raise awareness & funds for the LooseHeadz Foundation.

During his epic journey, Mark will be stopping off at rugby clubs along the way, talking all things mental health & working to prove that age is no barrier as part of his campaign to Run For Rugby.

But there’s a catch - Mark needs our help to find accommodation during his run. We’re looking for hotel rooms, B&B’s, hostels and spare rooms where Mark and his wife Luisa can stop over for the night to rest up from the day’s run.

This is where you come in. If you live along Mark's route and can offer him a place to stay for a night or two, he would be incredibly grateful. Not only will you be supporting a worthy cause, but you'll also have the opportunity to meet a great bloke and hear about his experiences and insights into the sport and mental health.

Having survived his own battles with both mental health & cancer, & now embarking on a journey as a full-time ultra-distance athlete, Mark is well placed to be able to help raise awareness & engage rugby clubs with our mission.

“It’s a lot easier for me to run 1,000 miles through the UK than it is for a lot of people dealing with mental illness. I’ll be glad to see anyone from rugby either on the run or at the clubs I’m visiting,” he said.

We’re also looking for rugby clubs to host events with Mark, players & fans who want to join him for a leg of the run, donations & messages wishing him luck on this truly epic endeavour.

You can check out the route here and find out more about how he is getting on here. Even if you can’t join him in person, you can send him a good luck message here or donate here.
